Bricks & Brew sits quietly along the bustling stretch of Old Sta. Mesa Street in Sampaloc, offering a brick-lined retreat that feels both grounded and thoughtfully designed. This café stands out not just for its striking interior—where exposed brick walls wrap the space from floor to ceiling—but also for the calm atmosphere that softens the hum of the busy neighborhood outside.

Inside, the mood is relaxed and intentionally unhurried, making it a welcoming spot for those looking to catch up with friends, work quietly, or enjoy a moment alone away from Manila’s usual rush. The café draws a mix of locals who appreciate well-crafted coffee paired with thoughtfully chosen pastries. Their butter croissant, for example, strikes a nice balance between flakiness and affordability, paired often with a cup of coffee or something a little sweeter like a matcha latte or sea salt latte.

Bricks & Brew’s vibe works well for small gatherings or casual dates where conversation can flow without loud distractions. The staff tends to be warm and approachable—ready to offer smiles or a welcoming word even during busy or gloomy days.

The cafe also makes an effort to blend function with comfort: seating includes tables with accessible power outlets, and board games are available for use, adding a playful touch for groups who want to linger beyond just sipping their drinks. Clean restrooms and considerate layout show attention to guest needs beyond just the menu.

For anyone in Sampaloc seeking a quiet coffee stop that feels like a small haven without being overly polished or pretentious, Bricks & Brew offers just that. Weekday mornings or early afternoons might be the best times to settle in, when the café's calm energy is at its peak, but it handles a steady stream of visitors throughout the day.

Ideal for coffee lovers who enjoy subtle variety—try the matcha if you want a sweeter change from the standard brew—and for folks who appreciate space and a bit of personality in their neighborhood café.

We went there for a video shoot of Project M together with Ms. Sam Tepace (soloist/guitarist) and Ms. Gywn Rabago (vocalist). The lighting setup and ambiance were great, the staff was kind and accommodating, and the place is perfect for small gatherings or a date because of its calm atmosphere. The matcha drink was also delicious—you must try it if you love matcha! Thank you as well to the owner for being so kind. :) - tago pla itong lugar pero maganda. :) sana mabisita nyo :)

The ambiance is just !!! All bricks, from floor to ceiling, Interior and exterior. I like the girl na nasa counter when I visited, very approachable and knows how to smile with everyone. Quality of their coffee is good. I like their mugs, as someone na mahilig na mugs. I like their butter croissant as well, very affordable for only 65 pesos, flaky with good strawberry jam and butter. Functional ang cr nila, and malinis, and maganda ang pagkaka design. Hindi super lamig, walang ngatog feeling while staying at the shop. Or it depends saan ka banda naka upo? Hindi rin mainit sa loob at the same time na nakakapawis. Charging outlets? Meron sila, but limited. Perfect meeting place for a group of people/students to have a casual talks or usual bonding. Even if you're alone, for sure mae-enjoy mo ang ambiance and service ng shop na to! Give it a try!

A great place to relax and chill. I the middle of this crowded and very busy area. Ordered the Reese and biscoff cookies. Paired with an sea salt latte. The cookies were spot on, not too sweet, perfectly chewy in the inside, slightly crunchy on the outside, had a tip it's better when warmed, will do that next time. The coffee is ok, will try the americano next time to have a better taste of the coffee base they use. Very affordable price, cozy and well curated ambiance. Will definitely be back.

Visited their newly renovated cafe and the interior design of the place is lovely, the cafe has a quiet and peaceful atmosphere outside. I ordered a matcha latte, which was decent—not the worst, but definitely not the best for me. They also offer board games for free use! The staff is friendly, and the restrooms are clean. There are also outlets available located on tables near the walls. However, there are some cons: it can get overly noisy inside, especially during peak hours from 4 to 6 PM. I've experienced little to no signal (I use Smart). For first-time visitors, I suggest bringing noise-canceling headphones or earphones and arriving early to secure good seats.

New store location was cozy and more spacious! Despite heavy rains and gloomy weather, staff were still very jolly and accommodating. Same good food and bevs.

Randomly saw this on Google Maps when I was searching for nearby coffee shops. Cute little place in Old Sta. Mesa. Ordered iced latte and chocolate chip cookie. They also have food like pasta and pizza (I think their menu changes depending on what’s available that day) It's a bit noisy so if you plan to work there would be better if you have earphones. Or if you can work even if it's noisy around you then that would work. There’s also a “basement” parking space beside but it’s dark and tight so make sure you’re not a beginner driver (or at least have the confidence of an advanced driver? )
